The Street Culture Project (SCP), a non-profit organization in Regina, is applying for a grant from the city, sourced from the federal Emergency Treatment Fund, to purchase a vehicle.
This vehicle would help SCP provide safe rides for young people in their outreach program, addressing transportation barriers for those dealing with housing uncertainty, addictions, or violence.
The goal is to increase their capacity to transport clients to various appointments and reduce the stigma associated with needing such services. Ultimately, SCP envisions having a dedicated vehicle for on-demand safe rides, driven by trained staff, but obtaining another vehicle is the necessary first step.
