Youth Support Volunteers or Practicum

Reports to: Program Managers

Youth Support Volunteers at SCP provide critical support to youth that are transitioning to independent living, helping them build essential life skills, and access the resources that they need in the community. succeed in their educational pursuits. As part of a dedicated team, you will work closely with youth aged 16-24 to assist in creating a safe, supportive, and growth-focused environment. This role involves offering guidance, encouragement, and mentoring while supporting youth with their daily activities, studies, and personal development.

Youth Mentors

Reports to: Program Manager
Based at: Head Office, Community
Employment: Full time, Part time
(Minimum 18+ hrs/wk)

Start Date: Ongoing

As a member of one of SCP’s mentorship based programs, you will be mentoring and supporting youth involved with SCP at different levels. Your shifts will include planning and implementing 1:1 activities and programming from 4 main categories: (a) building healthy relationships, (b) education, (c) recreation, and (d) life skills. Needs will vary between youth. A strong case management focus is required to meet the deliverables of outcome-based contracts that work towards building independence and positive support systems.

Human Resources Supervisor

Reports to: Senior Director of
People & Programs
Based at: Head Office
Employment: Permanent Full time
(30+ hours/week)

The Human Resources Supervisor provides leadership and oversight to agency-wide personnel systems and documentation. They support compliance, cohesion, and strategic growth through supervision of the HR/People & Culture team and stewardship of policies, scheduling models, data systems, and internal communication. The Human Resources Supervisor ensures that personnel processes are clear, inclusive, accessible, and aligned with agency values and employment standards.

Case Plan Coordinator

Reports to:  Director of Transitional Housing, Case Manager
Based at: SCP Peer Home
Employment: Contract (3 months –
May 2025 to August 2025)

As a Case Plan Coordinator you will be responsible for case management (completion of youth intakes, identify support needs and goals, develop holistic case plans, and facilitate discharges), youth advocacy & community engagement. Case Plan Coordinators are expected to comply with industry standards and best practices while adhering to all SCP mandated approaches. 

RCY Caseworker

Reports to: Director of RCY
Based at: Head Office
Employment: Permanent Full Time (30+ hours/week) and Part-time (minimum of 18hrs/week)

As an RCY Caseworker you will provide 1:1 support for a caseload of 6-7 youth involved in the criminal justice system with court mandated probation orders. You will work closely with the LSI (Level of Service Inventory) risk assessment and community youth workers create individual case plans for each youth on your caseload. RCY Caseworkers are expected to adhere to industry standards and best practices including working from a trauma informed and strength based approach. 

Kitchen Assistant

Reports to: Food Security & Outreach Coordinator
Based at: SCP Shelter
Employment: Part-time

Assist in food preparation, cooking, and meal plating according to recipes and guidelines, including tasks such as chopping vegetables, measuring ingredients, and assembling dishes. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and properly disposing of waste. Support inventory management by restocking supplies, checking for freshness, and ensuring proper storage of ingredients. Follow all food handling, safety, and sanitation procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Provide timely assistance during busy periods and participate in end-of-shift clean-up, ensuring all equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations, and assist with grocery shopping, inventory management, and stock rotation as needed.

Youth Care Worker – Weekend Supervisor

Reports to: Director of Transitional Housing
Based at: Multiple Locations
Employment: Flexibility in scheduling required, 3-month probation and review.

SCP’s Weekend Supervisor work closely with the staffing managers to oversee the weekend operations of SCP’s youth shelter and peer homes. The role would provide direction and support to a diverse team of weekend staff who are responsible for youth engagement, medication administration, crisis response, crisis management, communication, documentation, and general property upkeep. As the Weekend Supervisor you will be expected to comply with industry standards and best practices while adhering to all SCP mandated approaches, policies, processes, and protocols in the development & support of SCP’s weekend/eveningteam. 

Youth Care Worker (Float)

Reports to: Staffing Managers, Shift Supervisors
Based at: SCP Peerhomes & Youth Shelter 
Employment: Part Time

As a floating Youth Care Worker in SCP’s transitional housing program your primary role is to provide trauma informed, strength based, relationship focused, and youth centred support to the residents of SCP’s youth shelter (short term transitional housing) and peer homes (long term transitional housing) when regularly scheduled staff are not available. You will act as support in a front line capacity and will be responsible for youth engagement, crisis response, medication administration, youth supervision, youth advocacy, and community engagement. Before the end of your shift you are responsible for documenting all pertinent information and communicating pressing concerns. 

Youth Care Worker (Weekend Morning)

Reports to: Staffing Coordinators & Director of Transitional Housing
Based at: Multiple Locations/ SCP Peer Homes

As a Youth Care Worker in SCP’s transitional housing program your primary role is to provide trauma informed, strength based, relationship focused, and youth centred support to the residents of SCP’s youth shelter (short term transitional housing) and peer homes (long term transitional housing). You will be responsible for youth engagement, crisis response, medication administration, executing case management plans, assisting with programming delivery, youth advocacy and community engagement for youth between the ages of 16 and 21. Youth Care Workers are expected to comply with industry standards and best practices while adhering to all SCP mandated approaches in the completion of their duties and fulfillment of their role.

Youth Care Worker (Weekend evening)

Reports to: Staffing Managers & Director of Transitional Housing
Based at: Multiple Locations/ SCP Peer Homes

Mental Health and Substance Use Support Worker

Reports to: Director of Employee Experience
Based at: Head Office

The Mental Health and Substance Use Support Worker, in collaboration with SCP’s Mental Health and Substance Use Consultant, supports youth accessing SCP services who are seeking additional mental health and/or substance use assistance. This multifaceted role involves providing direct support to youth, offering consultative guidance to staff, and liaising with external agencies. The Mental Health and Substance Use Support Worker is expected to adhere to industry standards, best practices, and all SCP mandated approaches, policies, processes, and protocols in carrying out their duties and fulfilling their role

YTU Caseworker

Reports to: YTU Program Manager
Based at: Head Office; Community 
Employment: Permanent Full Time (Evenings)

As a YTU Caseworker you will provide 1:1 support to a caseload of 4-5 youths, ages 16-21, as they work to build the life skills, healthy relationships, and community connections necessary to successfully transition to independence. You will identify gaps in resources and barriers to success then develop and implement case plans to support the goals that align with each participant’s unique vision of success. YTU Caseworkers are expected to comply with industry standards and best practices while adhering to all SCP mandated approaches, policies, processes, and protocols in the fulfillment of their role and completion of their duties.

Youth Care Worker (Overnight Team Support)

Reports to: Shift Supervisor /
Staffing Managers
Based at: SCP Shelter & Peer-Homes
Employment: Full Time

As an Overnight Youth Support in one of SCP’s Peer-homes you will provide supervision and support to a maximum of 5 youth between the ages of 16-21 from the hours of 11pm to 9am. You will be responsible for youth engagement, medication administration, crisis response/management, communication, documentation, and general home upkeep. Overnight Support Staff are expected to comply with industry standards and best practices while adhering to all SCP mandated approaches, policies, processes, and protocols in the fulfilment of their role and completion of their duties.
