Youth Transitions Unit (YTU) works with youth ages 15-21 who are transitioning into independent living. Youths are referred to YTU through the Ministry of Social Services. The YTU program provides youth with a safe and supportive environment where they can gain valuable life skills to make a smooth transition into independent living. We believe that every young adult deserves to live a healthy, happy life, and we work hard to ensure they have the tools they need to succeed.
YTU aims to help at-risk youth build strong community connections through one-on-one mentorship. Through this one-on-one relationship, our mentors help youth learn skills like housing management, health and hygiene, job readiness, community connections, emergency planning, and goal setting. We believe that a strong network of relationships between youth and adults will provide a foundation for positive change in the community. Through the YTU, we aim to provide the structure needed for youth to develop a sense of identity and belonging within their communities.
